Director, Performance Marketing

Office-first - Toronto, Canada

$130,000 - $180,000 + equity

Your opportunity

We’re supporting a fast-growing Canadian fintech that has reimagined how people manage their largest recurring expenses and is focused on helping them gain more value from every dollar spent. Already processing over a billion dollars in annual payment volume and serving a rapidly expanding user base, the team is building critical financial infrastructure that demands robust, secure, and scalable systems. As the business scales, disciplined, data-driven customer acquisition is essential to sustaining healthy unit economics and long-term growth.

This role sits at the center of that growth engine. As the Director of Performance Marketing, you will take full ownership of paid acquisition across major performance channels, with direct accountability for customer acquisition efficiency, cohort quality, and payback economics.

The mandate is intentionally hands-on. This is an in-platform individual contributor role designed for a senior performance marketer who wants to own strategy, execution, experimentation, and measurement end-to-end, with the opportunity to build internal capabilities or manage external partners as the function matures.

Key responsibilities

  • Paid acquisition ownership: Own and operate paid channels across platforms such as search, social, video, and emerging performance channels based on demonstrated signal

  • Performance modelling: Build and maintain a growth model that connects spend to cohort quality, lifetime value, payback, and margin to guide budget allocation

  • Campaign execution: Lead end-to-end campaign development including targeting, bidding, landing pages, funnel optimization, creative testing, and audience expansion

  • Creative systems: Partner with brand and creative collaborators to establish a repeatable, test-driven creative process with clear briefs and learning agendas

  • Measurement and attribution: Work closely with product, engineering, and data teams to implement and maintain robust attribution and event tracking, including server-side and conversion API setups

  • Experimentation: Design and run incrementality tests, holdouts, geo tests, and lift studies to understand true growth drivers

  • Forecasting and reporting: Own channel-level forecasting, performance reporting, and scenario planning for leadership review

  • Scalable growth: Optimize acquisition efficiency while maintaining cohort quality as budgets and volume increase

  • Team and partner leadership: As the function grows, hire internal talent and/or manage agencies across channels, creative operations, and growth analytics

Your know-how

  • 8+ years of experience in performance marketing or growth roles with significant hands-on ownership of paid acquisition channels

  • Proven ability to scale spend while improving or maintaining efficiency metrics such as CAC, payback period, and cohort quality

  • Strong command of performance measurement, including attribution models, conversion APIs, server-side tracking, funnel analysis, cohort analysis, and incrementality testing

  • High data fluency with comfort working in dashboards and interpreting metrics such as LTV, retention curves, contribution margin, and cohort performance

  • Experience collaborating closely with product, engineering, and data teams to define and validate tracking and measurement requirements

  • Strong creative judgment and the ability to run structured creative testing programs without direct design ownership

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment

It’s a bonus if

  • You have worked in a startup or high-growth environment

  • You have experience with emerging or non-traditional paid channels beyond core search and social

  • You have familiarity with advanced attribution tooling or custom measurement stacks

  • You enjoy participating in creative ideation, copy development, or brainstorming sessions
