Your opportunity

We’re supporting a fast-growing Canadian fintech that has reimagined how people manage their largest recurring expenses and is focused on helping them gain more value from every dollar spent. After launching with a focused, category-creating wedge, the platform has reached meaningful scale, now processing over a billion dollars in annualized transaction volume. As the product has matured, the feature set has continued to expand, delivering a more robust experience for consumers while also supporting a growing set of small business use cases as the platform’s scope broadens.

With strong product-market fit established through a web-first experience, the team is now entering its next phase of growth. That phase is centred on deeper investment in mobile experiences and in the foundations of a scalable design system that can support increasing product complexity without sacrificing usability, trust, or visual quality.

This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role with broad ownership and influence. You’ll define the design foundations for scale, shape core consumer experiences across surfaces, and set direction through hands-on design work and principled decision-making across the product.

Key responsibilities 

  • End-to-end product design: Own the design of core mobile & web experiences from early exploration through production-ready UI and interaction design

  • Small business workflows: Design accounts payable, bill management, and payment flows with a focus on clarity, confidence, and ease of use

  • User experience simplification: Translate complex financial and payments concepts into simple, intuitive, and trustworthy user journeys

  • Visual quality and craft: Set and maintain a high bar for visual design, interaction quality, and overall polish across the product

  • Design systems: Establish and evolve a cohesive design system and visual language across mobile and web surfaces

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with product managers and engineers from problem definition through execution and iteration

  • Detail-oriented execution: Sweat hierarchy, spacing, motion, copy, and edge cases to deliver refined, cohesive experiences

  • Engagement moments: Design moments of engagement and delight that reinforce progress, trust, and a sense of reward without adding friction

Your know-how

  • Experience designing and shipping high-quality mobile applications

  • Strong visual design skills with a clear point of view on effective, modern UI

  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive product experiences

  • Comfort owning ambiguous problem spaces and making independent design decisions

  • Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering in fast-paced environments

  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong product thinking alongside high-craft, polished UI

It’s a bonus if

  • You have experience designing products in fintech, payments, or other regulated domains

  • You’ve worked on products serving both consumer and small business audiences

  • Your background includes contributing to or scaling a design system across platforms

  • You’ve helped launch a new mobile product or major product surface from the ground up
